CROSS-COMPANY

Siloed organization increases cross-functional collaboration and teamwork during pandemic.

CLIENT:

400-Employee Conglomerate Operating in APAC

CHALLENGE:

A mid-sized conglomerate operating various businesses in APAC looked to bring their leadership teams from all companies together. The goal was to develop the leadership teams to effectively manage fast-paced growth while fostering cross-functional collaboration and teamwork. In November 2019, 25 participants, including the president, came to Japan for a 1-day in-person workshop. The feedback was fantastic - participants were communicating more effectively, employees were visibly happier and more engaged with an improved atmosphere of real teamwork. We had planned small group coaching sessions in January and February 2020 for participants to share their progress and challenges, and explore ways to further develop their leadership skills. We planned to bring everyone together for a second workshop in March of 2020 but had to postpone due to the pandemic. Confident we could deliver a high-impact workshop in a virtual format, we successfully held two half-day virtual workshops in June and July 2020.

RESULTS:

The client was very satisfied with the entire program, seeing significant increase in teamwork, communication and cross-functional collaboration, even a year after the completion of the program. The client and participants felt the virtual sessions were just as effective and engaging as the in-person workshop, and they were impressed with our ability to deliver the cross-company program in a highly-engaging and interactive way, enabling cross-functional communication and learning.
